In Nijmegen, the Netherlands, there is a public research university known as Radboud University (abbreviated as RU; Dutch: Radboud Universiteit, originally Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen). Saint Radboud, a Dutch bishop who lived in the ninth century and was renowned for his intelligence and assistance to the poor, is honored by the name of the institution.

The Radboud Scholarship Program offers extremely few scholarships. It provides brilliant, highly motivated non-EEA students with exceptional academic achievements the chance to be given a scholarship for the entirety of an English-taught master’s degree at Radboud University.

Benefits:

Your tuition will be reduced to €2.530,- thanks to a Radboud Scholarship. For instance, a grant recipient in 2024/2025 will spend just €2.530,- in tuition, as opposed to €17,000. The scholarship also covers the cost of your Aon Student Insurance-provided visa, residence permit, health insurance, and liability insurance throughout your time in the Netherlands. The scholarship does not cover the costs of living and studying school in the Netherlands.

Eligibility Criteria for the Radboud University Scholarship Program

The Radboud Scholarship is available to students enrolled in any English-taught master’s program (except joint-degree and Erasmus Mundus master’s programs).

You will only be qualified to apply for a Radboud Scholarship if you:

  • own an EEA or non-EU passport.
  • are not qualified for the cheaper EU/EEA tuition rate due to other circumstances.
  • have (or will gain) a bachelor’s degree earned outside the Netherlands, do not hold any degrees earned inside the country, and did not receive any prior education there (exchange programs are not included, provided they are included in the bachelor’s degree earned outside the country).
  • satisfy the English language competency criteria for your chosen Master’s degree.
  • as mentioned in the official letter of acceptance, have been completely admitted to the English-taught Master’s program beginning on September 1, 2024.
  • can fulfill the requirements to be granted a visa to the Netherlands.
  • are enrolled at Radboud University full-time for the Master’s program and academic year for which the scholarship is being offered.

Selection Process

The following factors will be used to determine who receives Radboud University Scholarship Program:

Academic excellence

  • Outstanding academic performance in your current field of study, as demonstrated by grades, test results, and publications.
  • Your prior degree’s applicability to the Master’s program
  • The standing of the university from which you previously earned a degree.

Ambition

  • Your letter of motivation for the Master’s program should be of high quality and relevant.
  • Prove your potential by your prior successes, performances, and efforts in the area of study that is important to you.
  • Experience in real life or extracurricular activities like volunteering or internships.

The selection committee for the faculty to which a student has applied will give each application for the Radboud Scholarship specific consideration. The aforementioned factors were used to make this decision. Other factors may also be used by faculties when making their selections; for instance, some study programs include interviews.

Note: Admission to the Master’s program does not automatically indicate selection for the scholarship. The selection for the scholarship and admission to the Master’s program are two independent procedures.

Application Process for Radboud University Scholarship Program

You can apply by mentioning that you want to apply for a Radboud Scholarship in the OSIRIS Application system when you apply for admission to a Master’s program. Next, two reference letters and a resume will need to be uploaded as an extra three files. You can upload the same papers once again for your scholarship application if you have uploaded them for your Master’s program application.

The school also advises that you submit your documentation of English language competency before the deadline of February 14, 2024. Before mid-April 2024 (date subject to change), the Department of Student Life and International Mobility will let you know about the final decision about your Radboud Scholarship application.
