About the University of Queensland and Scholarship

The UQ-Ochsner Clinical School in Louisiana, United States, and the UQ North America headquarters in Washington, D.C. are only two of the locations that UQ maintains. The university offers associate, bachelor, master, doctoral, and further doctorate degrees through a college, a graduate school, and six faculties. UQ hosts and offers research programs at more than 100 research institutes and centers, including the Molecular Bioscience Institute, Boeing Research, and Technology Australia Center, Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, and UQ Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation.

Among the institution’s most notable recent scientific endeavors include the creation of the first HPV vaccination for cervical cancer prevention, a COVID-19 vaccine that is presently undergoing human trials, and high-performance superconducting MRI magnets for on-the-go scanning of human limbs. Dame Quentin Bryce, the first female governor-general of Australia, Ed Byrne, the former president of King’s College London, Max Lu, the triple Grammy Award winner Tim Munro, Geoffrey Rush, the winner of the Oscar and Emmy awards, and Andrew N. Liveris, the former CEO and chairman of Dow Chemical, are other notable alumni.

Richard Cooper Scholarship – Eligibility Criteria

Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for the Richard Cooper Scholarship at the University of Queensland:

  • are domestic students.
  • are engaged, or will enroll, full-time in either the Master of Laws or postgraduate research (HDR) degree in Law.
  • can provide evidence of financial necessity.

The following fields of study are required for postgraduate research (HDR) students:

  • trade practices
  • native title.

Selection Criteria

The institution will consider the following:

  • academic successes
  • Proven need for money
  • exhibited a desire to learn about law.

Application Process for Richard Cooper Scholarship

When it’s available, submit an application using the online application portal.

Your CV, academic reports from grades 11 and 12, or official academic records for previous postsecondary studies, as well as proof of financial difficulties such as Centrelink or ATO statements and family income are required. Any other scholarships or bursaries you have won, including the name of the scholarship/bursary, granting organization, length, and amount. Awards, accomplishments, or prizes you obtained for academic success throughout your studies.

You’ll be required to write about and explain:

  • Why are you interested in studying law? Describe your goals after graduating from college in no more than 300 words.
  • Your monetary plight or necessity (500 maximum words)
  • Your character traits (500 maximum words). This might include anything you feel is pertinent to your application, such as proof of your leadership potential, information about your responsibility for others, community participation, accomplishments in the arts or sports, etc.
